The THTC System Of A Mau Hemp T-Shirt is an evolution of Chant Down Babylon, one of THTC’s longest-running designs. Featuring Mau Mau’s distinctive artwork embroidered in Jamaican colours, the design celebrates reggae sound system culture through socially conscious streetwear.

Made using THTC’s premium 200GSM fabric, this heavyweight t-shirt combines organic Hemp and organic cotton for a substantial feel and long-lasting construction. The fabric is designed to become softer and more comfortable with age.

Why Hemp?

Hemp is a natural, renewable fibre valued for its strength, breathability and durability. Unlike synthetic fibres, Hemp does not rely on fossil fuels as a raw material and does not shed synthetic microplastics when washed.

At a fibre level, Hemp has higher tensile strength than cotton and becomes softer over time without losing its strength. Hemp cultivation can also require less water and fewer agricultural chemicals than conventional cotton while helping improve soil structure and reduce erosion.

Material Sourcing

The Hemp used for THTC t-shirts and hoodies comes from Shanxi Greenland Textile Co., Ltd. THTC works with independent Hemp factories across Eastern China involved in finishing organic Hemp fabric products.

According to THTC, workers are paid above the living wage for their region, work nine-hour days, receive paid leave and have a say in how their business and labour are managed.
